The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) says it is investigating a cybersecurity breach involving unauthorised access to parts of its systems.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the commission noted that the incident affected “limited aspects” of its platform.

“The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is currently reviewing a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access to limited aspects of its information systems,” the statement reads.
CAC explained that it immediately activated its response protocols upon discovering the breach.
“CAC promptly activated its response protocols and is working with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), relevant government agencies and partners to assess the scope and impact,” the commission added.
The agency stated that containment measures have been put in place, alongside additional safeguards to reinforce system security.
While investigations continue, CAC urged users of its portal to remain cautious and take preventive steps.
“Stakeholders are advised to monitor their records on the CAC portal, update login credentials, and remain cautious of unsolicited communications.”
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of its database and assured that updates will be provided as the probe progresses.
Meanwhile, on April 5, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) began investigating a separate alleged data breach involving Remita Payment Services Ltd., Sterling Bank, and other organisations.
