Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has raised concerns over what he describes as a fresh move by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to take possession of his Maitama, Abuja residence.
Malami alleged that operatives of the anti-graft agency arrived at the property early Tuesday to enforce a forfeiture order and take control of the building. The Department of State Services (DSS) was also present during the operation.

The former AGF had confronted EFCC operatives on Monday over the marking of his properties. In a video obtained by RBN, Malami was seen questioning the officials’ authority and demanding to see a valid court order authorising the exercise.
“Where is your court order? Are you here simply to embarrass me?” Malami was heard saying, highlighting his concerns over due process and the legality of the operation.

The marking of the properties is tied to a Federal High Court interim forfeiture order issued earlier in 2026, temporarily restraining 57 properties associated with Malami and two of his sons, allegedly acquired through unlawful means.
Malami has since challenged the order in court, filing applications to contest the forfeiture.
Honourable Shehu Koko, representing the former AGF’s family, told RBN that the family is monitoring the process closely and affirmed that Malami remains in good spirits, prepared to respond to any court proceedings arising from the investigation.
