The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has declared its support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, ahead of the forthcoming off-cycle election.
Addressing journalists in Osogbo, the NANS Southwest Zone D Coordinator, Owolewa Taiwo, said the endorsement was based on Oyebamiji’s credible educational qualifications and track record, which he noted would position him to attract competent and qualified individuals into government. The association expressed confidence in Oyebamiji’s leadership approach, stating that he would not rely on cronies or sycophants in administering the state.
As part of the endorsement, NANS announced the launch of a youth and students’ mobilisation movement to rally support for the APC candidate. The group cited Oyebamiji’s consistent engagement with young people, commitment to education, and dedication to youth development as key reasons for their backing.
Taiwo described Oyebamiji’s public service record as impressive, noting that his antecedents reflect a leader who understands governance from the grassroots. The association added that Oyebamiji has demonstrated a belief in inclusive governance, with policies and benefits that cut across students, women, artisans, professionals, and civil servants.
NANS also praised Oyebamiji’s vision for an inclusive Osun State, emphasising equitable distribution of resources across the state. The students maintained that his strong educational background gives them confidence in his ability to assemble a capable team drawn from diverse segments of society, rather than governing through narrow interests or divisions.
