South Africa Women recorded a commanding 99-run victory over Ghana on Saturday in the ongoing Nigeria Fifth Women’s Invitational T20I tournament in Lagos.

The match took place at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval.

South Africa, who won the toss and elected to bat first, recovered from early setbacks to post a total of 168 for 4 in 20 overs, anchored by Mieke Van Voorst, who scored 50 off 34 balls.

After losing early wickets, a steady partnership helped stabilise the innings, with Siphokuhle Masilela contributing 37 runs off 44 balls, while Rethabile Nthoba and Jae Leigh Finalder added 17 runs each.

For Ghana, Kate Awua returned figures of 2 for 22 in four overs.

In response, Ghana struggled to build momentum as South Africa struck early, reducing them to 26 for 1 at the end of the power play.

The batting side continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 69 runs in 19.3 overs, despite brief resistance from Kate Awuah, who scored 12 runs.

Van Voorst also starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 1 run, including a maiden over, while Ziya Mohanlall claimed 2 wickets for 19 runs.
