The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over a total of ₦3,936,145,822 in recovered funds to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

The handover took place on Wednesday, during a brief ceremony at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

The funds were presented on behalf of EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, by the Commission’s Secretary, Mohammed Hammajoda.

Speaking at the event, Hammajoda reaffirmed the Commission’s dedication to tackling economic and financial crimes, noting that the recovered funds were the result of thorough investigations and the exposure of fraudulent activities linked to certain actors within NNPCL.

He emphasized the sacrifices made by EFCC personnel in the course of their duties, stating that the agency remains committed to serving Nigerians with courage and integrity.

He formally presented the recovered sum to the NNPCL as part of the Commission’s ongoing accountability efforts.

Receiving the funds, NNPCL’s Executive Vice President (Downstream), Mumuni Dagazau, expressed appreciation to the EFCC for its role in the recovery.

He described the development as a reflection of strong institutional collaboration.

Dagazau acknowledged the challenges faced by NNPCL over the years and reiterated the company’s commitment to reform and transparency.

He added that the successful recovery underscores the importance of cooperation with agencies like the EFCC and pledged continued partnership in strengthening accountability going forward.
