Nigerian Troops Kill 61 Terrorists in Borno Operation

David Egbede, March 18, 2026

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly killed at least 61 terrorists suspected to be members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a report posted on X on Monday, noting that the operation was conducted in coordination with the Nigerian Air Force.

The success was achieved when the assailants attempted to infiltrate Malam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State on Wednesday morning.

According to the report, the terrorists advanced on foot while deploying armed drones in an effort to breach the defenses at the 68 Battalion location. However, they were resisted by the troops.

Quoting military sources, Makama said that the coordinated integration of air and ground operations allowed the troops to fix, target, and neutralize the insurgents in large numbers.
