President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday forwarded a letter seeking the approval of the Senate for the appointment of Mr Mainasara Illo as Executive Secretary of Nigerian Anti-Doping Centre (NADC).

Tinubu’s request is contained in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and read at plenary on Tuesday in Abuja.

The president, in the letter, said that the request was in accordance with section 15 of 2025 Nigerian Anti-Doping Act.

“In line with section 15 of the Nigerian Anti-doping Act 2025, I am pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate the appointment of Mr Mainasara Illo as Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Center (NADC) for an initial term of four years.

“While I hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominee in its usual expeditious manner, please, accept Distinguished Senate President, the assurances of my highest regards,” the letter read.

The senate president Godswill Akpabio, thereafter, referred the request to Senate Committees on Narcotics and Sports for further legislative inputs and to revert to plenary ‘as soon as practicable’.
