Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to Kwara State, where he met with the Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as part of an operational tour of the state.

The visit comes days after Disu was formally sworn in as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Disu assumed office after the resignation of former police chief Kayode Egbetokun and was sworn in during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja earlier this month.

During the meeting at the Government House in Ilorin, the police chief discussed security matters with the governor as he commenced an operational assessment of policing activities in the state.

The IGP is expected to visit several locations across Kwara as part of the tour aimed at strengthening police operations and engaging with security stakeholders.

Disu, a career police officer with more than three decades of service, joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and has held several strategic positions, including Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory and Rivers State.

Before his elevation to the top police position, he also served as head of the Intelligence Response Team and commander of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad, roles that earned him recognition for operational policing and crime control.
