Family members of individuals accused of plotting a coup against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have held a media briefing in Abuja, calling for fairness and adherence to due process in the ongoing investigation.

The briefing, which took place on Friday at the Venture Park in Maitama, featured activist Omoyele Sowore, legal practitioner Deji Adeyanju, and a representative of the affected families.

Speakers expressed concern over the arrest and continued detention of the accused, insisting that their relatives should not be prejudged while investigations are ongoing.

They appealed to the federal government and relevant security agencies to ensure transparency and uphold the fundamental rights of those in custody.

The families also emphasized the importance of access to legal representation and timely, accurate information regarding the allegations against their loved ones.

“We are calling on the authorities to allow due legal process to take its course,” the speakers said, adding that the families would continue to pursue lawful means to defend the accused and seek justice.

When approached by RBN’s correspondent, families of the accused soldiers declined to comment further.
