President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday received Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, and the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the federal government and Yobe State, with discussions centred on increasing federal support for infrastructural development projects across the state.
Security concerns also formed part of the engagement, as both sides explored ways to enhance coordination and improve safety in support of the state government’s ongoing development efforts.
In a separate engagement earlier on the same day, the President also received political leaders from Enugu State at the Villa.
The delegation, led by Governor Peter Mbah, said it was representing the collective voice of the state’s over seven million residents and pledged to stand with the President in the next general election.
Speaking during the meeting, Mbah noted that the visit was to express appreciation for federal support and to affirm alignment with the administration’s economic agenda.
“We have come to express our deepest gratitude for your engagement and investment in the people of Enugu State,” he said.
“We state boldly and without ambiguity that this relationship has earned our trust and support. On that basis, Your Excellency, we will stand proudly with you on election day in 2027.”
The President commended governors for effectively utilising federal allocations to improve infrastructure, healthcare, education and citizens’ welfare, adding that ongoing reforms were beginning to yield tangible outcomes.
He also praised Mbah’s leadership in Enugu, particularly efforts to improve security and drive development across key sectors.
“You have been a transformative leader, and we appreciate what is happening in Enugu today,” he said.
The president assured that the federal government would continue to collaborate with states to deepen economic growth, including investments in infrastructure such as railways and power.
