Political leaders from Enugu State have declared support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, following a high-level meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The delegation, led by Governor Peter Mbah, said it was representing the collective voice of the state’s over seven million residents and pledged to stand with the president in the next general election.
Speaking during the meeting, Mbah said the visit was to express appreciation for federal support and to affirm alignment with the administration’s economic agenda.
“We have come to express our deepest gratitude for your engagement and investment in the people of Enugu State,” he said.
“We state boldly and without ambiguity that this relationship has earned our trust and support. On that basis, Your Excellency, we will stand proudly with you on election day in 2027.”
The delegation included Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh; Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Aneke; former Senate President, Ken Nnamani; former Chief of Naval Staff, Emmanuel Ogalla; and former governors of the state, including Sullivan Chime and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Also present was former governor of old Anambra State, Jim Nwobodo, alongside lawmakers, traditional rulers and other stakeholders. In his remarks, Tinubu thanked the delegation for the endorsement, describing it as encouraging and reflective of growing national support for his administration.
“The results you are outlining, like security, infrastructure, education and health care, are not abstract. They are evidence that reform is working and that Nigeria is moving forward,” the president said.
He commended governors for effectively utilising federal allocations to improve infrastructure, healthcare, education and citizens’ welfare, adding that ongoing reforms were beginning to yield tangible outcomes.
Tinubu also praised Mbah’s leadership in Enugu, particularly efforts to improve security and drive development across key sectors.
“You have been a transformative leader, and we appreciate what is happening in Enugu today,” he said.
The president assured that the federal government would continue to collaborate with states to deepen economic growth, including investments in infrastructure such as railways and power.
“We will continue to work together to build a nation that will be a pride for all our citizens,” he added.
Former Senate President Nnamani also commended the president for supporting development in the South-East, noting that federal interventions in roads, rail and aviation had boosted growth in the region.
“We have come to say thank you. The achievements in Enugu would not have been possible without your support,” Nnamani said, affirming that the state would back Tinubu’s re-election.
The meeting underscores ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, with increased collaboration between the federal government and subnational leaders.
