Alleged N33.8bn Fraud: Court Adjourns Mamman’s Trial Over Missing Defence Witness

Rejoice Ewodage, February 23, 2026February 23, 2026

The trial of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, could not proceed on Monday, following the defence team’s failure to produce its witness.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to the statement, defence counsel, Femi Atteh, SAN, informed the court that he was unable to subpoena the witness because the individual was unavailable in the office and therefore sought additional time to secure the witness’s appearance.

Justice Omotosho subsequently adjourned the matter until February 26, for the defendant to open his defence.

Mamman is being prosecuted by the EFCC on a 12-count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit money laundering involving the sum of N33,804,830,503.73.
