Two herders, Abubakar Lawal, 18, and Ibrahim Abubakar, 20, appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Monday, facing charges of stealing a cow valued at N700,000.
The defendants, residents of Odirin Village, Ido, Ibadan, were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Iyabo Oladoyin, told the court that the suspects, along with others still at large, allegedly committed the offences on February 12 at around 5 a.m. in Kaguo Village, Ido area, taking the cow from the residence of Yusuf Ibrahim.
According to the court, the offences contravene Sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Mrs. T. G. Daodu subsequently granted the defendants bail of N500,000 each with one surety each in a like sum and adjourned the case to March 16 for hearing.
