Soliu Oyesiji, April 23, 2026April 23, 2026

Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari has officially declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat of Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State under the All Progressives Congress.

He made the declaration on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Katsina State Government House, where he met with the Executive Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, alongside a delegation of political stakeholders, traditional leaders and community representatives.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Hon. Musa Haro, said Yusuf Buhari’s aspiration reflects a broader demand for purposeful representation.

“We are here to present a young man who is committed, focused and deeply connected to the needs of his people,” Haro said. “His ambition is not personal; it reflects the collective aspiration of Daura, Sandamu and Mai’adua for effective representation.”

He also appealed for the governor’s support, adding that consultations were ongoing to strengthen unity within the party.

“We believe in his leadership potential, and we seek Your Excellency’s guidance and blessings as we move forward,” he added.

Backing the aspiration, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu General, who represents Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency, urged party members to rally behind credible candidates.

“In a democratic setting, what we need is unity and quality representation. Yusuf Buhari has the capacity to deliver,” he said.

Hon. Fatihu Muhammad, Director-General of the National Agricultural Seeds Council, said the aspiration is driven by a development-focused agenda.

“He is stepping forward with a clear vision to empower young people, strengthen grassroots development and improve livelihoods across the constituency,” Muhammad said.

Community representatives also expressed strong support for the move, describing him as a unifying figure.

“He represents a bridge between generations and a symbol of renewed hope for our people,” one of the leaders said. “We stand firmly behind his aspiration.”

Also speaking, Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, commended the decision, describing it as part of a growing trend of youth participation in governance.

“This kind of engagement shows the direction of a new political era, where young leaders are stepping forward with ideas and energy,” she said.

In his response, Governor Radda welcomed the delegation and urged calm and maturity in the political process.

“We welcome your consultation and political interest,” Radda said. “What is important is unity, internal democracy and respect for party structures.”

He advised Yusuf Buhari to remain humble and engage widely with stakeholders.

“Politics is about patience, dialogue and service. I encourage you to continue consulting and remain focused on the larger goal of serving the people,” he added.d
