Happiness Udisifan, February 16, 2026

Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully dislodged suspected terrorists from a notorious hideout in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Benue State.

According to security sources, the operation targeted the stronghold after intelligence reports indicated that the location was being used by armed groups to launch attacks in the area. The military said the offensive led to the recovery of two motorcycles and a cache of ammunition, preventing further potential attacks.

The troops’ swift action underscores ongoing efforts by the Nigerian security agencies to restore peace and stability in Benue State, particularly in communities affected by repeated terrorist and bandit attacks.

Authorities have assured residents that operations will continue to track down remaining suspects and neutralize threats, while emphasizing the importance of community cooperation with security agencies.

Local leaders and security officials have praised the troops for the successful operation, describing it as a significant step toward reducing violent activities and securing lives and property in vulnerable communities across Benue State.
