Terrorists Kill Six In Sokoto LGA Hit By US Airstrike

David Egbede, January 23, 2026

No fewer than six people were reportedly killed on Wednesday night when suspected terrorists, believed to be linked to the Lakurawa armed group, attacked Baidi village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Tangaza is one of the council areas targeted by a US airstrike last December. It is believed to be used as hideouts by terrorists along the Nigeria-Niger border.

According to residents, the attackers stormed the village in the dark, shooting indiscriminately. The attack left six men dead and forced many other villagers to abandon their homes.

The victims were buried on Thursday, with residents sharing images and videos of the funeral prayers on social media.
