2027: Why I Returned to PDP — Ex-AGF Aondoakaa Speaks

David Egbede, April 1, 2026

Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Michael Aondoakaa, has explained that his decision to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is driven by his ambition to transform Benue State.

Speaking on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’, Aondoakaa clarified that his move is not connected to Governor Hyacinth Alia or the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

He described his return as a homecoming, recalling his time serving as Attorney-General under the PDP-led government.

Aondoakaa also stated that his goal is to channel increased revenues from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms into developing rural communities, improving access to food and shelter, and achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals in Benue State.

He added that enforcing existing laws, including the anti-grazing law, would be key to protecting lives and property.

“My moving to PDP has nothing to do with Governor Alia SGF Akume. I was Attorney-General under PDP government. It’s just like I’m going home to where I was elevated to the position of Attorney General and Minister of Justice to pursue my personal dreams and ambition.

“I have my dreams of carrying out my programmes in a different way. My way is to make sure that the money that is flowing into the state now be utilized for improvement of the rural communities.

“In doing so is for me to have an opportunity to activate all laws enacted in the state and all laws relevant by the federal government for protection of lives and property in Benue State,” he said.
