The Abdulrahman Mohammed-led National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has fixed March 28 and 29, 2026, for its national convention in Abuja.
The decision was taken Monday at the party’s 105th National Executive Committee meeting, which reviewed the state of the party, recent court rulings and preparations for internal democratic processes. At the meeting, the Board of Trustees reaffirmed its commitment to constitutional order, party unity and the rule of law.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the NEC said the convention would elect members of the National Working Committee and other statutory organs, describing it as a key step toward stabilizing the party and repositioning it for future elections.
The NEC also approved a nationwide congress timetable ahead of the convention, with ward and local council congresses slated for February and state congresses scheduled for March.
