The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by Nyesom Wike has commenced renovation work at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in preparation for the resumption of activities.
On Monday, ongoing work was observed at the Zone 5 complex, including repainting, replacement of air conditioners, and changes to office locks. The development follows the unsealing of the secretariat by police, which allowed the faction access to the facility.
A party insider disclosed that the renovation began on Sunday, noting that office spaces are also being reassigned to members of the new National Working Committee (NWC).
However, uncertainty remains over the return of staff, particularly those loyal to the Tanimu Turaki-led faction, who may be reluctant to resume at the premises.
As of the time of filing this report, no officials had returned to the secretariat. Meanwhile, factional chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed had earlier announced the reopening of both the national secretariat and the party’s presidential campaign office in Maitama, Abuja.
