Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) has been unanimously announced as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.
The announcement was made by Governor Dapo Abiodun during a strategic caucus meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta.
Addressing party stakeholders, Abiodun urged other aspirants to support Adeola in the interest of unity, stressing the need to prioritise the party’s collective goal ahead of the 2027 governorship election. He described the outcome as a reflection of political maturity and consensus among party leaders.
“It gives me great pleasure… to congratulate Senator Adeola as our consensus and unanimously selected governorship candidate for 2027,” the governor said, while commending what he described as a spirit of “no victor, no vanquished.”
In his acceptance remarks, Adeola expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for the confidence reposed in him, pledging not to disappoint and to build on existing achievements in the state.
“I will not let you down. I promise to maintain the unity, peace and progress in the state,” he said, assuring stakeholders of his commitment to inclusive development.
Earlier, the APC state chairman, Yemi Sanusi, said the meeting was convened to preserve unity within the party before, during and after the primaries, emphasising the importance of a rancour-free process.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including former governors Olusegun Osoba, Ibikunle Amosun and Gbenga Daniel, alongside other party leaders and aspirants.
