The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to hold a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Monday at its headquarters in Abuja, following the recent unsealing of the secretariat.
The party’s headquarters had been sealed in November last year after a violent clash between the National Working Committee led by Tanimu Turaki and a caretaker committee headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed, both of whom claimed leadership of the party.
However, a Court of Appeal ruling in March nullified the Ibadan convention that produced the Turaki-led leadership.
The Mohammed-led faction, which enjoys strong backing from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, relied on that judgment to organise its own convention in Abuja.
Monday’s NEC meeting is expected to be attended by members aligned with the Mohammed-led faction, including Wike, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, among others.
