Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised two suspected terrorists and recovered weapons during a coordinated ambush operation in the Doruwa Babuje area of Kaduna State.
According to an operational report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday, the operation was conducted on Tuesday following credible intelligence on the movement of armed criminals operating in the area.
The suspects were said to be linked to attacks on residents, including armed robbery and sexual violence.
Military sources stated that troops mounted an ambush around the Marit general area and engaged the armed group as they approached the location.
“Troops successfully sprang the ambush, neutralising two of the bandits, while others escaped into nearby bushes,” the report stated.
Items recovered from the scene include a locally fabricated rifle, five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a cutlass, a jackknife, and a mobile phone.
Following the operation, troops have maintained a presence in Marit and neighbouring Lajam villages, with sustained patrols aimed at tracking down fleeing members of the gang.
The Army said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal networks and improve security in vulnerable communities across the region.
