Troops Kill Scores of Terrorists, Destroy Enclaves in Borno Forest Operations

Soliu Oyesiji, April 29, 2026April 29, 2026

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have intensified offensive operations in the North-East, killing scores of terrorists and destroying several enclaves in coordinated attacks across forest locations in Borno State.

The operations, conducted under Operation Desert Sanity V, targeted terrorist strongholds in the Timbuktu axis and Bulabulin Forest areas, with support from the Air Component of the operation.

On the Bulabulin Forest axis, troops of Sector 2, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force and stabilisation forces, cleared multiple enclaves in Mar, Subdu, Yaro Lawanti and Yaro Shuwari.

Military sources said the troops engaged insurgents at Malam Shiri Village in a coordinated assault supported by air strikes, killing 11 terrorists while others fled with injuries.

Recovered items included nine AK-47 rifles, three PKT machine guns, five motorcycles, ammunition and materials used for Improvised Explosive Devices.

In a separate operation along the Wajiroko–Sabongari corridor in the Timbuktu axis, troops again confronted terrorist elements, killing at least seven fighters.

“Subsequent exploitation revealed seven neutralised terrorists, with additional blood trails and body parts indicating significantly higher enemy casualties,” a military source said.

Items recovered from the scene included rifles, rocket-propelled grenade tubes, ammunition, bandoliers and communication equipment.

The Air Component of the operation played a critical role by providing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as precision air strikes on identified targets and fleeing insurgents.

“The coordinated air–land offensive overwhelmed the terrorists and ensured mission success,” the source added.

Troops have since launched follow-up operations along the Forfor, Multe and Wajiroko axes to track fleeing fighters and prevent regrouping.

The military said the sustained offensives demonstrate growing operational effectiveness and continued dominance over insurgents in the theatre.
