Donald Trump has said a recent shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner will not affect his stance on the ongoing Iran conflict, dismissing any strong link between the incident and the war.
“It’s not going to deter me from winning the war in Iran. I don’t know if that had anything to do with it, I really don’t think so, based on what we know,” he told reporters during a White House briefing.
Although he admitted “you never know,” Trump noted that early findings suggest the attacker acted as a “lone wolf,” with investigators still working to determine the motive.
The US leader also canceled a planned envoy trip to Pakistan for peace talks, citing dissatisfaction with Iran’s position after nearly two months of hostilities.
