Members and supporters of the Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Wednesday staged a protest at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Port Harcourt.
The demonstrators called for the immediate removal of the INEC chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, citing the commission’s alleged role in the party’s ongoing leadership crisis.
Some protesters also accused the INEC boss of having ties with the All Progressives Congress (APC), pointing to a recently disputed X account reportedly linked to him.
The protesters were seen carrying banners with inscriptions such as “Liberty is won in the street, not granted by the Villa; one party, one grave, we refuse to bury our democracy, SaveNigeria”.

The party has been staging protests in INEC facilities across the nation, calling for Amupitan’s resignation or sack.
INEC recently suspended the recognition of the David Mark-led ADC amid the leadership crisis in the party.
The commission was also conspicuously absent from the recently concluded ADC national convention held in the Federal Capital Territory.
