The Kano State Government has donated three operational vehicles to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, to enhance its fight against substance abuse in the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the NDLEA Kano Command, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Kano.

He said the vehicles were presented on behalf of the State governor on Thursday, by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk-Ibrahim, to the NDLEA Commander in Kano, Mr Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal.

Farouk-Ibrahim had said that the donation was aimed at motivating the agency to intensify efforts in curbing substance abuse.

He emphasised that substance abuse remained a primary enabler of various crimes and social vices in society, and consequently urged sustained collaboration between the state and the agency, to safeguard communities in Kano.

Reacting to the gesture, Yahaya-Lawal thanked the state government for the gesture, and assured that the vehicles would be effectively deployed to strengthen anti-drug trafficking operations in the state.

“These vehicles will enhance our operational capacity and support more robust actions aimed at dismantling drug cartels and ensuring sustained closure of drug joints across Kano State,” he said.

He commended the state government on behalf of the Chairman of the NDLEA, retired Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba-Marwa, for its continued support and collaboration.

The commander consequently, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to sustaining efforts in achieving a drug-free society.
