The Nigeria Immigration Service has suspended senior officers in charge of the Lagos-Seme border commands following allegations of extortion.

According to spokesperson Akinsola Akinlabi, the decision was taken after viral reports accused some officers along the corridor of misconduct “bordering on extortion.”

He said Kemi Nandap has “temporarily relieved the Comptrollers in charge of the affected Commands of their duties” pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
Nandap condemned the alleged actions, describing them as “unacceptable” and a violation of the agency’s core values and operational standards.
The service added that the probe will be thorough, aimed at identifying all officers involved and ensuring “appropriate disciplinary measures are applied with immediate effect.”
The NIS reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and efficient service delivery, urging Nigerians to report misconduct through its official channels.
