Liverpool FC have confirmed that forward Hugo Ekitike will miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious Achilles injury.
The club disclosed that the striker was forced off in the first half of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield following a slip on the turf.
Medical examinations later revealed a rupture of the Achilles tendon, ruling the player out for the remaining weeks of the campaign.
The injury is also expected to sideline Ekitike from representing France national football team at the upcoming FIFA World Cup this summer.
Liverpool said the player will receive full medical support during his recovery, adding that further updates on his condition will be provided in due course.
