David Egbede, March 31, 2026March 31, 2026

Eight members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have formally announced their defection from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers made the announcement on Tuesday during plenary at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.

Those who switched parties include Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, Garba Ibrahim Diso, Hassan Shehu Hussain, Idris Dankawu, Muhamamad Chiroma Nalaraba, Rabiu Yusuf, Ghali Mustapha Tijjani, and Muhammad Bello Shehu, representing various federal constituencies across the state.

The event was attended by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, alongside former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and other party leaders.

This development follows Governor Yusuf’s earlier move from the NNPP to the APC.

Meanwhile, his former ally, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, recently left the NNPP to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
