Eid-el-Fitr: Sultan Felicitates Muslims, Calls For Peace, Credible 2027 Election

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Saturday felicitated with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the 1447 AH Ramadan fast and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

The Sultan, who is also the President-General of Jama’atu Nasril Islam, gave the message in a statement by the organisation’s Secretary-General, Prof. Khalid Aliyu.

He urged the Muslims to reflect on their actions and sustain the virtues imbibed during the holy month.

He prayed for peace, stability and prosperity in Nigeria and across the world.

The Sultan prayed Allah to accept the fasting, forgive the shortcomings and reward all acts of worship performed during Ramadan.

He reminded the faithful that devotion to Allah should continue beyond Ramadan, citing Qur’an 15:99, which enjoins believers to worship their Lord until death.

He also encouraged the Muslims to observe the six-day voluntary fast in Shawwal (Sittah-Shawwal), as recommended by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The Sultan wished Muslims in Nigeria and beyond a peaceful and prosperous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

“Eidukum Mubarak,” he said.

On national issues, Abubakar III
called on Nigerians to intensify prayers for peace and unity as the 2027 general elections approaches.

He urged the stakeholders to work towards a credible, free, fair and transparent elections, saying that national stability was key to good governance.

“A stable Nigeria must first exist before it is governed,” he said.

On global affairs, the Sultan, appealed to the world leaders to de-escalate ongoing conflicts, particularly tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

He noted that wars have far-reaching destructive consequences.

He warned that prolonged conflicts could disrupt the global food chain and worsen economic conditions, especially for developing countries like Nigeria.
