The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 53,500 officers and men to enhance security before, during and after Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

This is contained in a statement by the NSCDC Spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Babawale said that the deployed personnel comprised tactical operatives and intelligence squads to ensure a hitch-free festive season for Muslim faithful

He further disclosed that NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, had directed all provosts of colleges, zonal commanders and state commandants to ensure adequate protection of all identified flashpoints.

Audi urged officers to remain on high alert and be ready to respond decisively to any emerging threat.

He charged them to deal firmly with unscrupulous elements bent on disrupting the peace of the nation.

The NSCDC boss urged members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious movement or activities to the nearest security formation.
