Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents on Thursday evening invaded Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, sending residents fleeing for safety.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers fired sporadically and set homes ablaze, forcing many villagers to escape into nearby bushes.
The latest assault comes weeks after a similar attack on March 30, 2026, when the same community was targeted. During that incident, several lives were lost, including a local hunters’ commander, Mallam Bumto, and Johanna Peter, who was scheduled to get married the following day.
The earlier attack also led to widespread displacement, looting of food supplies, and destruction of property, with residents only recently returning before this renewed violence.
A security source from the community confirmed the development, saying: “Yes, our community of Kautikari is under Boko Haram attack. I just received the distress call at about 6:50 p.m. this Thursday.”
He added: “We cannot ascertain any casualties now as they are wreaking havoc and people are scrambling for safety.”
