A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday ordered the remand of cryptocurrency entrepreneur Linus Williams Ifejirika, popularly known as Blord, at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
Blord is facing charges of criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and the alleged unauthorised use of the identity of Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan.
The case arose from claims by VeryDarkMan, who accused Blord of using his image without consent for promotional purposes.
After his arraignment, the court directed that Blord be held in custody until April 27, 2026.
Reacting to the development, VeryDarkMan shared a video from the court premises, expressing satisfaction with the outcome.
He stated that Blord had been remanded for 26 days and would remain in custody through the Easter period. He further alleged that Blord falsified flight tickets in his name and claimed he was scheduled to attend an event in Onitsha.
VeryDarkMan also accused him of falsely stating that he was paid ₦500 million to serve as a brand ambassador and of using his image on billboards and promotional materials without approval, insisting that all such claims were untrue.
Legal practitioner Marshal Abubakar confirmed the remand, detailing the swift legal action.
“We bundled d guy from Awka straight to Abuja… we shall also avail him free food, free medicare, free security… if u play, u learn d hard way,” he wrote on social media.
The detention has drawn criticism from activist Omoyele Sowore, who condemned the celebration of the incarceration
He added that he would work to ensure the case is discontinued and Blord is released.
“No one should celebrate the incarceration of any person under the color of law,” Sowore wrote on X.
“Sending Blord to prison is not a victory for legal brilliance or advocacy. Rather, it risks emboldening a system of oppression that weaponises the law against citizens.”
Blord is the founder of the Blord Group, a conglomerate with interests in real estate and fintech through companies such as Blord Real Estate Ltd., Blord Jetpay Ltd., and Billpoint Technology with a strong emphasis on cryptocurrency trading.
