Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Thursday received the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, at the Government House in Bauchi, where both leaders held talks on key national issues.
Obi, who is also a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, was in the state as part of ongoing consultations on the country’s political and economic situation.
Mohammed, who shared details of the meeting in a post on X on Thursday, said he received Obi at the Government House in Bauchi, describing the engagement as timely.
He said discussions focused on economic recovery and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
“Our discussions centered on critical national issues, including economic recovery and the welfare of our citizens.
“Engagements of this nature foster mutual understanding and help drive practical, people-focused solutions,” the governor said.
He commended Obi for the visit, describing it as constructive.The two leaders also reviewed the current political climate and stressed the need to strengthen democratic institutions across the country.
“We emphasized the urgent need to strengthen our democratic institutions and urged all stakeholders to rise above partisanship,” Mohammed said.
“The national interest must come first in all decisions.”The meeting comes amid ongoing political realignments and consultations ahead of future electoral cycles.
