Arsenal Lead Premier League as Manager Rankings Reveal Tactical Consistency and Mid-Season Shake-ups

Soliu Oyesiji, April 27, 2026April 27, 2026

As the 2025–26 Premier League season approaches its decisive phase, Arsenal remain top of the table with 73 points from 34 matches, closely followed by Manchester City, who sit second with 70 points from 33 games. Manchester United occupy third place on 58 points, buoyed by a strong late-season surge under interim manager Michael Carrick.

While the title race remains tight at the top, a separate analysis of managerial performance ranked by points per game (PPG) has offered a different perspective on consistency and impact across the league.

According to data compiled by Planet Football, Carrick leads all managers who have taken charge of at least one Premier League match this season, averaging 2.17 points per game since replacing Ruben Amorim at Manchester United in January. His impressive run has helped secure Champions League qualification for the club with matches still to play.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta follows closely with 2.14 PPG, reflecting Arsenal’s sustained title challenge and consistency across the campaign. Just behind him is Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola with 2.12 PPG, as City continue to pressure the league leaders in a tightly contested race.

Liverpool’s Arne Slot and Aston Villa’s Unai Emery are level on 1.70 PPG, underlining strong but less dominant campaigns from both sides. Chelsea’s managerial changes are reflected in the rankings, with Enzo Maresca averaging 1.58 PPG before his departure, followed by Ruben Amorim’s 1.55 PPG spell at Manchester United prior to his dismissal.

Further down the list, Brighton’s Fabian Hürzeler (1.47 PPG), Brentford caretaker Keith Andrews (1.45), Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola (1.44), Fulham’s Marco Silva (1.41), and Everton’s David Moyes (1.38) all feature in the upper-mid tier of performers.

Newly promoted and mid-table sides dominate the lower half of the rankings, with Sunderland’s Régis Le Bris on 1.35 PPG and West Ham’s Roberto De Zerbi on 1.33. Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner records 1.30 PPG, while Newcastle’s Eddie Howe sits on 1.23.

Further down, Thomas Frank at Tottenham has managed 1.12 PPG, while brief caretaker and transitional spells such as Darren Fletcher’s short stint at Manchester United (1.00 PPG) highlight the instability seen at several clubs this season.

At the bottom of the list are short-term and struggling managerial spells, including Rob Edwards (Wolves) on 0.65 PPG, Graham Potter (0.60), Burnley’s Scott Parker (0.58), and caretaker Calum McFarlane (0.50). The lowest figures are recorded by Igor Tudor and Ange Postecoglou, both on 0.20 PPG during brief tenures.

The contrasting data underscores a season defined by managerial churn at several clubs, even as Arsenal, City, and United maintain relative stability at the top end of the table.
