Arsenal Edge Leverkusen in UCL Thriller to Boost Quarter-Final hopes

David Egbede, March 17, 2026March 17, 2026

Arsenal FC put in a commanding performance to defeat Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in their UEFA Champions League encounter today, taking a major step towards the quarter-finals.

The Gunners controlled the tempo from the outset, dominating possession and creating several chances before finally breaking the deadlock in the first half with a clinical finish.

Their attacking intent continued after the break, and it paid off again as they doubled their advantage with a well-taken second goal.

Leverkusen struggled to break through Arsenal’s organised defence, despite pushing forward in search of a response.

The Premier League side remained disciplined at the back, ensuring a clean sheet and a comfortable advantage heading into the return leg.

The victory gives Arsenal a strong edge in the tie, while Leverkusen face an uphill task to overturn the deficit in the second leg.
