APC Chieftains Hail Igbo Community For Major Role in FCT Election Victory.

David Egbede, March 14, 2026March 14, 2026

Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ardo Zubariu and Chinsom Nwakanma, have credited the Igbo community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for playing a major role in the party’s victory during the February 21 area council elections.

In a joint statement issued on Saturday, the APC leaders said the ruling party would not have secured five area council chairmanship seats without the strong backing of Igbo residents in Abuja.

They also commended the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, for his efforts in mobilising voters in support of APC candidates.

According to them, the participation and support of South-East residents in the FCT significantly contributed to the party’s success at the polls.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared APC candidates winners of the chairmanship elections in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Kuje, Kwali and Abaji, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won in Gwagwalada.
