The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has welcomed the decision of former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to join the party, describing the move as a significant boost to its growing political coalition.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said Kwankwaso’s decision reflects a growing recognition among Nigerians of the need for a credible political alternative focused on citizens’ welfare and national development.

Abdullahi noted that Kwankwaso’s experience in governance, strong grassroots appeal, and leadership capacity would add value to the party’s vision of rebuilding Nigeria and strengthening democratic ideals.
According to the statement, Kwankwaso also urged members of his political movement and supporters across the country to align with the ADC, a development the party believes will further expand its support base and deepen its national reach.

The ADC said the defection was witnessed by key party leaders, including National Chairman Senator David Mark, National Secretary Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and members of the National Working Committee.
Other prominent political figures present at the event included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Liyel Imoke, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

The party described the development as a sign of unity and growing momentum within its ranks as it continues to position itself as a strong alternative ahead of future political contests.
