The Indigenous People of Biafra has strongly dismissed the Nigerian government’s recently released list of alleged terrorism sponsors, describing it as “State-Sponsored Deception” and a politically driven attempt to mislead the public.
In a statement issued on Monday, by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group accused the federal government of using the publication to undermine its agitation for self-determination and distort public perception of its activities.
IPOB, led by Nnamdi Kanu, argued that the list lacks credibility and maintained that peaceful advocacy for self-determination should not be equated with terrorism. The group also accused the Nigerian state of double standards in its handling of security issues.
Reaffirming its position, IPOB insisted it remains committed to what it called a “non-violent struggle” for justice and self-determination, stressing that no official designation would weaken its campaign.
