Super Falcons To Face Cape Verde In International Friendly

David Egbede, April 8, 2026

The Super Falcons are set to take on Cape Verde in an international friendly scheduled for April, as part of preparations for upcoming continental and global tournaments.

The match will give both teams an opportunity to test new players, refine tactics, and strengthen squad cohesion ahead of future competitions, including the next Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

This follows Nigeria’s recent two-legged friendly against the Cameroon women’s national football team in Yaoundé during the last FIFA window between February and March 2026.

The Super Falcons’ training camp is expected to open in Nigeria on April 11, allowing players to begin preparations for the proposed friendly.

For Nigeria, the fixture provides another chance for the technical team to assess squad depth, integrate emerging talent, and maintain the core group responsible for the team’s recent continental successes.

Cape Verde, meanwhile, are expected to use the match to gauge their progress against one of Africa’s most accomplished women’s teams, gaining valuable experience against top-level opposition.

The game also forms part of broader efforts to enhance the Super Falcons’ international exposure, as the team has had limited opportunities for friendlies ahead of major tournaments in recent times.

Officials are yet to announce the exact venue and kickoff time, but the match is expected to take place during the April international window.

The friendly comes as Nigeria continues to consolidate its dominance in African women’s football while preparing for upcoming challenges on the continental stage.
