2027 Ogun Race Heats up as Iyabo Obasanjo Meets Tinubu in Lagos

Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, APC governorship aspirant in Ogun State and daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has formally informed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of her ambition to contest in the 2027 governorship race.

During a private meeting at the president’s Lagos residence, Obasanjo briefed Tinubu on her plans for Ogun State, outlining her vision for governance, development, and public service if elected.

Sources disclosed that the discussion focused on her intention to run, as well as broader political developments ahead of future elections.

Obasanjo also reflected on her long-standing relationship with the president, describing it as one built on years of political engagement and mutual respect, which has influenced her leadership approach.

She further reaffirmed her loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and pledged to mobilize support for Tinubu ahead of the next general elections.
