Suspected bandits have kidnapped six residents following a midnight raid on Gazau village in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

According to a local source, the attackers stormed the community around 1:00 a.m. on Monday, invading several homes and initially abducting 13 people—12 women and one man.

The source explained that the assailants later stopped at Dan Adama Forest, where they asked the captives to identify themselves. They reportedly released one person for every two individuals from the same household.

“In the end, the assailants took six persons to their hideout, while seven others were freed,” the source said.

Those still in captivity were identified as Asabe Zakariya, Inno Ibrahim, Inno Musa, Umma Yusuf, Safina Abdullahi, and Saminu Jijji.

The attackers are also said to have threatened continuous attacks on the village unless residents agree to seek amnesty.

Efforts to reach the chairman of Isa LGA, Sharehu Abubakar Kamarawa, were unsuccessful, as his phone lines were unreachable. Likewise, the Sokoto State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufai, did not respond to calls as of the time of reporting.
