‘Over 500,000 Nigerians Joined ADC After INEC’s Derecognition Move’ – Bolaji Abdullahi

David Egbede, April 6, 2026April 6, 2026

Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress, has revealed that the party recorded a massive surge in membership after the Independent National Electoral Commission de-recognised its factions.

According to him, “Between 7:00 PM on April 1st, when @inecnigeria released its statement, and 5:00 PM today, over half a million (500,000) new Nigerians have joined the ADC.”

He had earlier noted a similar spike, stating, “Between 7:00 PM last night when the INEC Statement came out, and 7:00 AM this morning, over 40,000 people have registered to join ADC…”

The development follows a prolonged leadership crisis within the party, which led INEC to withdraw recognition from both factions, citing a court of appeal judgement.

While the ADC accused the commission of bias and misinterpretation of the ruling, INEC insisted its decision was guided by the need to uphold the rule of law.
