The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended an invitation to Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, urging him to join the party as speculation mounts over his planned exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The move comes amid growing interest from other political parties, including the APC and ADC, all seeking to attract the governor.
Speaking after a party meeting in Bauchi, NDC state chairman, Abdullahi Maigari Misau, described the party as a stable and crisis-free platform for politicians.
“Our party has no leadership tussles or court cases. We guarantee fairness, transparency, and a level playing field for all members,” he said.
He further emphasized the party’s openness to new entrants, adding, “If you are confident in your popularity and support base, the NDC provides an opportunity to contest without fear of internal crisis or legal battles.”
Misau also revealed that the party is expanding its reach through media campaigns, radio jingles, and collaborations with groups like the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and civil society organisations.
According to him, the efforts are already yielding results, with increasing interest from residents across Bauchi State.
He added that the party plans to strengthen its grassroots structure by inaugurating its state executive council and extending leadership across all 20 LGAs.
On membership growth, Misau noted that the NDC has introduced both digital and manual registration processes, disclosing that national membership has already hit nine million.
He urged Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the democratic process through the party.
