David Egbede, April 5, 2026

The Nigeria Police Force in Jigawa State has arrested a 27-year-old man, Kabiru Nuhu, for allegedly killing his 60-year-old father in Kazaure Local Government Area.

Confirming the incident, on Sunday, Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, said:
“The investigation so far indicates that the suspect poured a suspected petroleum substance on the victim and set him on fire.”

The incident reportedly occurred on April 1, 2026, in Magama Quarters, Kazaure town, after police received a distress call and swiftly responded.

“The victim was found in critical condition, while the suspect also had fresh burns and injuries on his forehead, arms, and toes,” Adam added.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but later died while receiving treatment.
Adam said the suspect is currently in custody and will be charged, adding that he will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Reacting, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Haruna Yahaya, condemned the act and assured justice.

“We are working to establish the motive behind the attack, and justice will be served,” he said.

He also urged residents to resolve disputes peacefully and report early signs of domestic violence, stressing the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and order across the state.
