Two members of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Yobe State have resigned their membership of the party.
The lawmakers — Muhammad Buba Kajere, representing Fika/Fune Federal Constituency, and Hassan Kaikaku Jakduwa, representing Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency — announced their decisions in separate statements.
In his resignation letter, Kajere said the move followed careful reflection on his political future, pointing to unresolved issues within the party at the national level.
“I believe it is in my best interest to step aside from the party at this time in view of the unresolved internal crisis of the party at the National level”, he said.
Similarly, Jakduwa explained that his decision came after evaluating the current political landscape and his commitment to serving his constituents effectively.
“Politics, to me, has always been about service, responsibility and the collective progress of our people.
“At every step, my priority remains the welfare, unity and development of our communities.
“I firmly believe that this decision will position me to continue that service with greater focus and effectiveness,” he said.
Both lawmakers did not disclose their next political affiliation.
