The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has pushed back against comments made by presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga, stating clearly that it will not be intimidated by what it described as “unlawful whistles.”
In a statement released on Saturday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed claims that the ADC had gone astray, saying the party simply chose not to comply with directives it considers illegitimate.
Onanuga had earlier written: “Just continue your illegality, the lawless ADC. The dog that wants to get lost in the forest will ignore the hunter’s whistle.”
Responding, Abdullahi countered with his own metaphor: “The hunter you speak of has no jurisdiction in this forest.”
He added, “ADC is not lost; we are simply not following unlawful whistles. Besides, don’t forget, the forest hides that which hunts the hunter.”
The party maintained that it remains committed to operating within the law and will not be swayed by political pressure or attacks.
