Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, have recorded major breakthroughs in Plateau State, neutralising three terrorists and arresting two suspects posing as security operatives.
The late-night operation at Dutse Uku in Jos North LGA followed a distress call over sporadic gunfire, leading to the interception of the suspects, who were dressed in tactical black uniforms and allegedly involved in arson and violence.
According to a statement by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the suspects are now in military custody, while injured victims from the incident are receiving treatment and are in stable condition.
“Two persons who sustained gunshot wounds during the incident were evacuated to a medical facility, where they are in stable condition.”
The military said the arrests counter claims of its involvement in recent unrest, stressing that criminal elements have been disguising as security personnel to carry out attacks.
In a separate operation in Karem, Wase LGA, troops engaged fleeing insurgents on motorcycles, neutralising three during a gun battle.
Authorities described the recent deployment of additional troops as a major boost to security efforts, reaffirming their commitment to restoring peace.
“Troops of Operation Enduring Peace remain resolute in their mission to eliminate all threats to public peace.”
Residents have been urged to stay alert and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
