Nasarawa State police have successfully rescued a three-day-old baby abducted in Mararaba, arresting two suspects in a swift operation.

The incident happened on March 28, 2026, when 19-year-old mother Aisha Bada reported that her newborn was taken from their home in Unguwan Bawa, Orange Market. Her husband, Abubakar Isah, a commercial tricycle operator, was away in Lagos at the time.

Police said two unidentified men broke into the home, threatened the mother, and kidnapped the infant.

The family immediately alerted authorities, triggering an intensive search by detectives from Mararaba ‘A’ Division under the directive of Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed.

By the early hours of April 3, officers arrested 35-year-old Furera Abdulrahman from Rugan Juli and 39-year-old Sadiya Abdullahi from Unguwan Bako, Orange Market.

“The baby has been recovered safely and is in good health,” a police spokesperson confirmed. The suspects have admitted involvement and revealed details of an accomplice still at large.

The infant received a full medical check at Mararaba Medical Centre before being reunited with the family. The case remains under investigation and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia.

The Nasarawa State Police Command emphasized its commitment to citizen safety and urged residents to report any suspicious activity promptly.
