Top leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) arrived in Kano State on Monday ahead of the anticipated defection of former governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to the party.
Among the senior ADC figures who touched down in Kano for the event were former Senate President and party National Chairman David Mark; former Sokoto State Governor Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi; Senator Dino Melaye; and former APC National Chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. They were received at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) by the immediate past Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam.

By Monday morning, a large crowd of supporters and political loyalists had gathered outside Kwankwaso’s private residence on Miller Road in Kano, where the defection ceremony is expected to take place. The atmosphere was vibrant, with supporters chanting slogans and displaying party colours in anticipation of the formal announcement.
Meanwhile, Kwankwaso held a closed-door caucus meeting with key members of the Kwankwasiyya movement, including Kano Central Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga and NNPP State Chairman Dr. Hashim Dungurawa, as consultations intensified ahead of his expected declaration to join the ADC.
